Poster Analysis 5/Conclusion

For my fifth and final poster I analysed the poster "Divergent".

From this task I learnt that most posters share the same conventions regardless of what genre they are. When creating my own movie poster as part of my marketing campaign and now I know what conventions to include.

Poster Analysis 4

For my fourth poster I looked at 'The Last Song".

Again I found similarities in conventions as previous posters.

Poster Analysis 3

For my third poster I looked art "Finding Emo".

As expected this poster also shares the same conventions as the previous two, however it also includes a website.

Poster Analysis 2

I am now going to analyse the movie poster from the film 'The Avengers' to see if it contains similar conventions as the poster for 'Titanic'.

Despite this movie being from a different genre it still shares the same conventions as the movie poster for 'Titanic'. However I found that it doesn't include references to other films or a tagline which 'Titanic' does.

Poster Analysis 1

The conventions that I found on this poster are the title of the film, production company logo, billing/credits, names of the stars, dominant central image, reference to other films/producers and tagline. Next I will analyse a poster from a different genre to establish whether they share the same conventions.

Below are the 5 posters which I will analyse:

Brief

For my A2 coursework I will be creating a marketing/promotional campaign for a film. This campaign will include a teaser trailer, a magazine cover and a poster. I am going to ensure thart each element of the campaign link to each other so that it has a sense of unity and so that the audiences can immediately recognise that each element is promoting the same film. This is demonstrated in the example below:

I am not yet sure which genre film I will produce so I am going to carry out research into conventions of teaser trailers, posters and magazine covers, so that I can incorporate them into my own film and make each look as authentic as possible.
